The Fallacies of Atheistic Origin: Part 3 – Invalidity of Evolution – Quotes Against Evolution

The theory of evolution is on such weak footing that even evolutionists have had to speak on its frailty. Thus, listen as people of intelligence and renown tell of its inadequacies. (Any quotes from non-evolutionists will be marked with names underlined to avoid confusion.)

  • "Evidence from fossils now points overwhelmingly away from the classical Darwinism which most Americans learned in high school… The missing link between man and the apes… is merely the most glamorous of a whole hierarchy of phantom creatures. In the fossil record, missing links are the rule… The more scientists have searched for transitional forms between species, the more they have been frustrated." – Jerry Adler, "Is Man a Subtle Accident?" Newsweek, November 3, 1980.
  • "Despite the bright promise that paleontology provides a means of 'seeing' evolution, it has presented some nasty difficulties for evolutionists, the most notorious of which is the presence of 'gaps' in the fossil record. Evolution requires intermediate forms between species and paleontology does not provide them." – Evolution, Vol. 28, September 1974, p. 467
  • "Given the fact of evolution, one would expect the fossil record to document a gradual steady change from ancestral forms to the descendants. But this is not what the paleontologist finds. Instead, he or she finds gaps in just about every phyletic series." – Ernst Mayr (Professor Emeritus, Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University), What Evolution Is, 2001, p. 14
  • "'Survival of the fittest' and 'natural selection.' No matter what phraseology one generates, the basic fact remains the same: any physical change of any size, shape, or form is strictly the result of purposeful alignment of billions of nucleotides (in the DNA). Nature or species do not have the capacity for rearranging them, nor adding them. Consequently, no leap (saltation) can occur from one species to another. The only way we know for DNA to be altered is through meaningful intervention from an outside source of intelligence: one who knows what it is doing, such as out genetic engineers are now performing in their laboratories." – I. L. Cohen (Officer of the Archaeological Institute of America, Member New York Academy of Sciences), Darwin Was Wrong: A Study in Probabilities (New York: New Research Publications, Inc., 1984), p. 209.
  • "Species that were once thought to have turned into others have been found to overlap in time with these alleged descendants. In fact, the fossil record does not convincingly document a single transition from one species to another." – S. M. Stanley, The New Evolutionary Timetable: Fossils, Genes, and the Origin of Species (New York: Basic Books, 1981), p. 95.
  • "At the present stage of geological research, we have to admit that there is nothing in the geological records that runs contrary to the view of conservative creationists, that God created each species separately, presumably from the dust of the earth." – Dr. Edmund J. Ambrose (Emeritus Professor of Cell Biology, University of London), The Nature and Origin of the Biological World (John Wiley & Sons, 1982), p. 164.
  • "In most people's minds, fossils and evolution go hand in hand. In reality, fossils and evolution are a great embarrassment to evolutionary theory and offer strong support for the concept of creation." – Dr. Gary Parker (former evolutionist)
  • "…Gould and the American Museum people are hard to contradict when they say that there are no transitional fossils. As a paleontologist myself, I am much occupied with the philosophical problems of identifying ancestral forms in the fossil record. You say that I should at least, 'show a photo of the fossil from which each type of organism was derived.' I will lay it on the line – there is not one such fossil for which one could make a watertight argument." – Dr. Colin Patterson (Senior Paleontologist, British Museum of Natural History, London), quoted in Luther Sunderland, Darwin's Enigma (El Cajon, CA: Master Books, 1988), pp. 88-90.
  • "Life, even in bacteria, is too complex to have occurred by chance." – Harry Rubin, Molecular biologist (after stating this, he later clarified that he still believes in evolution)
  • "Biologists would dearly like to know how modern apes, modern humans, and the various ancestral hominids have evolved from a common ancestor. Unfortunately, the fossil record is somewhat incomplete as far as the hominids are concerned, and it is all but blank for the apes. The best we can hope for is that more fossils will be found over the next few years which will fill the present gaps in the evidence." – Richard E. Leakey, The Making of Mankind (London: Michael Joseph Limited, 1981), p. 43.
  • "We are now about 120 years after Darwin and the knowledge of the fossil record has been greatly expanded. We now have a quarter of a million fossil species but the situation hasn't changed much. The record of evolution is still surprisingly jerky and, ironically, we have even fewer examples of evolutionary transitions than we had in Darwin's time." – David M. Raup, Curator of Geology at Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History
  • "We don't need evidence. We know it [evolution] to be true." – Richard Dawkins (one of his unscientific statements promoting evolution).
  • "The extreme rarity of transitional forms in the fossil record persists as the trade secret of paleontology. The evolutionary trees that adorn our textbooks have data only at the tips and nodes of their branches; the rest is inference, however reasonable, not the evidence of fossils." – Stephen Jay Gould, "The Episodic Nature of Evolutionary Change" in The Panda's Thumb (New York: W. W. Norton & Co., 1980), pp. 179-185.
There you have it, then. Even respected scientists realize the overwhelming flaws in evolution, even though some of them foolishly continue to believe it in spite of such problems. Only two of these people were not evolutionists themselves, and one of them used to be before own studies convinced him that the theory was false. As clarification, I should note that Dr. Colin Patterson is no longer an evolutionist, but (correct me if I misunderstand), he was when he made his statement quoted here. Regardless, the conclusion is obvious. Evolution is false. Abiogenesis is false. These are the two pillars of atheistic origin (the Big Bang theory is different, and is somewhat irrelevant). Thus, this leaves us with only one viable theory: Creation. The Biblical account of Creation is almost as old as time itself, and has stood up wonderfully to scrutiny. Atheistic origin theories have risen and fallen as more evidence is uncovered, but Creation has contradicted nothing. This would really be an ideal time to point out all the evidence and merit of Creation, but I will save that for later. May God bless you all and open your eyes to the Truth!
