My God and My Valentine

Well, since it is Valentine's Day, I decided it would be appropriate to proclaim my love for my one and only Valentine: Jesus Christ.

I love Him because He first loved me (1 John 4:19). He has loved me from before time and creation, when there was nothing but Him, the Father, and the Holy Spirit. I've known Him for ten years in faith and never intend to leave Him, yet even that resolve is not my own (Ephesians 2:8). We were once far apart, separated by my infatuation with myself, but He made an impressive first move of reconciliation (Romans 5:8). His feat was so amazing I decided to love Him. Somehow, He had a perfect plan, and works out a perfect love for me, and I love Him all the more for it. He chose me (Ephesians 1:4-5), He pursued me (1 John 4:10), He rescued me (Matthew 18:11), He wooed me (Ephesians 5:2), He protects me (Romans 8:31), and He lavishes me with wonderful things (1 Timothy 6:17). My God, My Savior, My Jesus, My Lord is ultimately one thing above the rest. He is the Lover of my Soul, and I will love Him in return for all of my days. I humbly offer for Him this praise as a Valentine's Day gift, knowing I can never match the perfect gift He has already given me. I will end this with a song chorus from Casting Crowns:

Your love is extravagant

Your friendship is intimate

I feel like moving

To the rhythm of Your grace

Your fragrance

Is intoxicating in a secret place

Your love is extravagant
